he mission of the UWMC Emergency Medicine Service is to provide the highest quality medical care possible in the specialty of Emergency Medicine.

We aspire to achieve this end through our efforts in the areas of:

PATIENT CARE

• Provide rapid and timely assessment of patients and their presenting complaints.

• Recognize that, from the perspective of the patient, the presenting complaint is an emergency.

• Provide care and/or appropriate disposition with maximum efficiency.

• Provide appropriate follow-up and referral.

EDUCATION

• Provide information to patients regarding their evaluation, therapy and immediate health care needs.

• Provide a learning environment and learning experiences for all levels of health care providers.

• Serve as a resource to the community in the area of Emergency Medicine and education.

RESEARCH

• Support and encourage research studies to advance and improve the science of health care.

• Share and disseminate the results of this research.

GROWTH

• Promote strong working relationships with our colleagues throughout the Medical Center.

• Continue to deliver high quality emergency medical care, given the ever increasing demands of our growing community and Medical Center.
