Library Resources
With the advent of online databases and CD-ROM technology, the world of academic research has undergone a virtual revolution. Would you like to be able to:
- Receive automatic notification of the latest articles and books published in your field?
- Do advanced searches using the online Modern Language Association bibliography?
- Navigate the World Wide Web using the latest and most powerful search engines?
- Gain access to other library collections across the U.S.?
- Keep up on the library's latest CD-ROM acquisitions?
- Locate rare materials via Special Collections or Inter-library Borrowing?
- Work with a reference librarian to construct a specialized search strategy?
If so, you should plan to attend the department's library orientation this Fall. You can also take advantage of the library's drop-in classes on research tools and resources. The schedule of classes is updated quarterly and is available at the Suzzallo and Odegaard reference desks. The most recent schedule is also available at the UW Libraries' Classes and Instruction page.
For more information on any of the above services or for general library questions, feel free to contact the UW Libraries English selector, Faye Christenberry, via e-mail. And keep your eyes peeled for announcements from the department's Library Resources and Technology Committee!
For more information you might also consult the UW libraries home page.
