Bernstein leads quarterly forum on teaching and learning

The Spring Quarterly Forum on Teaching and Learning will feature Dan Bernstein, professor of psychology at the University of Nebraska, speaking on Assessing Teaching and Learning Through Peer/Colleague Review and Student Performance. The forum will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22 in the Walker Ames Room, Kane.

Bernstein was recently named a Carnegie Teacher-Scholar for 1998-99. Since 1994, he has been directly involved in the American Association for Higher Education's Peer Review Project, both on his own campus and at the national level. As part of that experience, he received a Department of Education FIPSE Grant for the dissemination of information on peer review of teaching. In addition, he has presented workshops, colloquia, and keynote addresses on his own campus and across the country on issues related to assessment of student learning and peer review of teaching.

Bernstein has received both the UN-L Bereuter Distinguished Teaching Award and the University of Nebraska Foundation Trustees Teaching Award, and is a charter member of the UN-L Academy of Distinguished Teachers.

The Quarterly Forum on Teaching and Learning is sponsored by the Center for Instructional Development and Research and the Graduate School Faculty Council on Instructional Quality. Those interested in attending should RSVP with a name, department, and campus mail box number to rsvp@cidr.washington.edu. Visit their website at http://weber.u.washington.edu/~cidrweb/
