Mudīite I. Zīlīte Saltups Postgraduate and Post-Doctoral Fellowships

AABS invites applications for Short-Term Study or Research Grants for up to eight weeks of study in the United States with a maximum stipend of $5,000.

The application deadline for the 2012 fellowship is December 15, 2012.

Proposals in the Humanities and Social Sciences will be considered and evaluated according to the scholarly potential of the applicant and the quality and scholarly importance of the proposed work. Applicants are expected to either be in the final stages of their doctoral program, or to have gained their doctoral degree after 1 January 2005. While the proposals do not necessarily have to relate to some aspect of Baltic Studies, preference will be given to Baltic Studies topics. The grants are funded from a bequest in memory of Dr. Mudīte I. Zīlīte Saltups. Dr. Saltups’ will provides that recipients of a fellowship must be citizens of the Republic of Latvia, speak Latvian, have their permanent residence in Latvia, and come to the United States to study.

Applications must include:
  1. Proof of citizenship – scanned copies of relevant pages of the passport of the Republic of Latvia indicating citizenship.
  2. Two-page (500 words) statement of proposal in English
  3. Curriculum Vitae
  4. One-page budget detailing the travel, living and other expenses being claimed.
  5. Letter of recommendation (by current doctoral or professional supervisor) to be sent by recommender to:  Dr Andres Kasekamp, Vice-President of Professional Development, at andres.kasekamp@ut.ee
  6. Identification of the university, library, or archive for the intended study or research; attach relevant documentation from the institution on the course of study or the availability of materials the applicant is planning to utilize.
