CAB Meeting Information:
Please mark your calendars for the next UW ACTU Community Advisory Board (CAB) meeting for Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 5:30 PM at a new location, the ACTU conference room at the far end of the 2 West Clinic at Harborview Medical Center. There is plenty of parking available that time of day in the view park garage and we will reimburse you if you need for parking. Dr. Collier will be reviewing significant results of an important ACTG study which will be presented in August at the World AIDS Conference in Mexico City as well as a symposium on bone disease and HIV that was held at the last annual ACTG meeting.

| Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA): |
The University of Washington AIDS Clinical Trial Unit believes that all research should be conducted ethically, with a focus on the safety and the rights of our patients.
There are new federal rules that affect the use and privacy of health information.
These rules are called the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
The UW Adult AIDS Clinical Trials Unit follows the HIPAA rules, as well as State of
Washington rules about health information and privacy.
We are committed to protecting the confidentiality of our study volunteers.
One of the HIPAA rules is that web sites which involve health information need to
display a copy of the HIPAA authorization form that they use.
The document that follows is the template of the HIPAA authorization form that is used for studies done at the UW Adult AIDS Clinical Trials Unit.
