Laboratory Manager. My educational background is in commercial and
graphic arts. I spent 8 years in the printing industry before leaving the
business altogether. In 1995 I got an entry-level job at Harborview’s
Central Laboratory. During the years I was there I went from Laboratory
Helper to Operations Lead. Aside from a course in phlebotomy, that is my
medical background in a nutshell.
I became involved in HIV research by being in the
right place at the right time. I left the laboratory in 2001 and have been
here ever since. This is my first job in a clinic and in the beginning I
wasn’t used to the slower pace and eating so much cake. My main job here
is to write laboratory instructions for the protocols,
troubleshoot mishaps and to control the drama.
Personal stuff: I have 1.5 cats. I like John Waters flicks, The Ramones, video games
and vanilla Ensure. I’m
scared of flying monkeys and my favorite quote is: “There was a clown in
the storm drain” from Stephen King’s “IT”. |
