My husband and I have recently moved to Seattle from
the Baltimore/D.C. area. The transition
to Seattle has been much easier for me, thanks to the affable and
supportive team at the ACTU. As
a physician with the ACTU, my responsibilities are to assist with the
management of protocols, provide staff education, and evaluate lab test
results. The most
enjoyable aspect of my position, however, is the interaction with patients, which
involves medical care, education, as well as emotional support.
My medical training began in Memphis, at
the University of Tennessee Medical School (and spent my spare time worshipping
at Graceland). I completed my
internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at the University
of Maryland in Baltimore. This
experience provided me the opportunity to work with many HIV infected
individuals, which was both challenging and rewarding. Therefore, I decided to pursue a subspecialty in Infectious
Diseases and became an HIV Fellow with the University of
Maryland/Institute of Human Virology. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and have a strong desire to
continue working in the area of HIV research, so I am very happy to be a
part of the ACTU team.
If you speak with me, you will likely notice a
southern accent; I was born in Tennessee and grew up on a farm. This has shaped my interests outside of work, which include
gardening, pets, hiking, and basically any other outdoor activity. I also enjoy cooking, reading, and spending time with my family
and friends.

the University of Washington, and is the Obstetric Medical Director at the
Seattle-King County Department of Public Health. She has been involved at
the University of Washington AACTU and PACTU since 1998. She is currently
the Chair of the Women's Health Committee in the national AIDS Clinical

antiretroviral treatment affect women differently than men, and the effect
of antiretroviral treatment in pregnancy on the long-term health of HIV
positive women.
Through her practice at the Northwest Family Center / Madison Clinic, she
follows HIV positive women during and after pregnancy. She also provides
pre-conceptual counseling for HIV positive women considering pregnancy.

assisting women who desire a healthy pregnancy and family to achieve this
goal.

year old son. |
