Chelan County, a land of scenic Cascade
Mountains, irrigated valleys and Columbia River terraces, is located
in north central Washington. "Chelan" is an Indian name meaning
"deep water", given to a large glacial lake which is a scenic
feature. The county was created by the Washington State Legislature
on March 13, 1899.
