Maxine Zack Smith grew up in San Francisco, California and received her undergraduate degree at San Francisco State University in the Social Sciences. She moved to Seattle and has been employed at the University of Washington since 1973 and in the Adolescent Program since 1977. In addition to her responsibilities in the Adolescent Program, she is also the Manager of the UW Pediatric Pulmonary Training Program at Children's Hospital and is the Data Coordinator for the Center on Human Development and Disabilities at the University of Washington.
