The primary role of the Glass Studio Technician is to provide for the smooth and safe operation of all of Pratt\u2019s glass studios serving a diverse community of accessed studio artists, instructors and students. The Glass Studio Technician maintains, repairs, and updates all glass studio equipment and tools and facilitates the procurement of studio supplies and materials as needed. People of color are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description Responsibilities: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and updates for all equipment and tools within Pratt\u2019s Glass Department including combustion equipment, electrical kilns, and related control systems.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Operational and technical support to accessed studio artists, instructors, and students.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Promotes safe working practices in all of Pratt\u2019s studios.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Procurement of studio supplies and consumables as needed within the Glass Department.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Build and maintain effective relationships with key vendors.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Management of Pratt\u2019s furnace charging team and oversight of Glass Department volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Available for on call response to studio emergencies.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Assist in the implementation of special events and fundraisers.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Serve as an ambassador for Pratt\u2019s programs to the broader glass community. \uf0b7 General facilities help.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Robust knowledge of glass art studio practices and processes including, glass blowing, cold working, sandblasting, kiln working, flame working, and mold making including experience with furnace glass melts and annealing.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Knowledge of studio equipment for all of the above.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Strong organizational, time management, project management, and problem solving skills.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Experience in working in a studio art and\/or not-for-profit environment.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Ability to learn new skills and self-educate as the needs of the position evolve.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Familiarity with Microsoft Office.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 5+ years of experience in glass studio maintenance and operations.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Passion for arts education and a passion for glass as a creative material.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Desire to work in a collaborative team based environment.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Competence in serving diverse populations<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion<\/p>\n<p><strong>Desired Qualities: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Studio operation budget development and oversight.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Electrical and\/or electronics experience.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Welding and metal fabrication skills or experience.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Woodworking skills or experience.<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Knowledge of forklift operation or forklift certification.<\/p>\n<p>For more information and to apply, click\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pratt.org\/ckeditor\/userfiles\/files\/Glass%20Studio%20Technician%20Job%20Description%202020.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Deadline to apply is January 5th, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Title: Glass Studio Technician Department: Programs\/Glass Reports to: Glass Studio Manager Status: Full-time, Exempt, $40-45K annual salary range + benefits Job Summary: Pratt Fine Arts Center is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Glass Studio Technician to join our dynamic team.
