{"id":2784,"date":"2020-01-11T10:00:47","date_gmt":"2020-01-11T18:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/?p=2784"},"modified":"2020-01-08T09:29:38","modified_gmt":"2020-01-08T17:29:38","slug":"call-for-art-method-gallery-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/2020\/01\/11\/call-for-art-method-gallery-exhibition\/","title":{"rendered":"Call For Art &#8211; 2021 METHOD Gallery Exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #e0915c; font-size: xx-large;\"><strong>2021 Call for Art:\u00a0 Solo Exhibition of Immersive Installation Art at METHOD Gallery<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #2a2a2a; font-size: large;\"><strong>METHOD is accepting submissions from individual artists in the Pacific Northwest for a solo exhibition scheduled during the 2021 exhibition calendar.<\/strong>\u00a0Please note that METHOD Gallery solely exhibits\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Installation_art\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">installation art<\/a>\u00a0and is seeking exceptional works in this arena only.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Professional Artists (in any medium) residing in The Pacific Northwest are invited to apply (WA, OR, ID and B.C.)<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #2a2a2a;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Women Artists, Indigenous Artists, Artists in Communities of Color and LGBTQIA artists are strongly encouraged to apply!<span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u00a0 Diversity in our gallery has been an important factor since we opened in 2013. Help us spread the word to these communities and encourage their applications!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Groups of artists that wish to collaborate to create one cohesive artwork (rather than a group show) are also welcome to apply.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><u><strong>PLEASE READ THIS CALL CAREFULLY AND COMPLETELY PRIOR TO SUBMISSION.<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #da4444;\">Application deadline is MONDAY MARCH 2, 2020: 5:00pm PST<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #2a2a2a;\">The mission of METHOD is to foster and exhibit sculpture and immersive installation art that regards process, material, and concept, while engaging the gallery space.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #2a2a2a;\">We endeavor to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2a2a2a;\">promote\u00a0a changing program of visually stimulating, well-researched, and thoughtful subversive installation exhibitions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2a2a2a;\">provide a venue for interdisciplinary thinking that supports exploration and creative problem solving<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2a2a2a;\">provide a contemporary exhibition space for artists who are working outside the traditional commercial standard.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2a2a2a;\">offer a platform for discussion on artistic content, aesthetics, technical considerations, experimentation, and the creative process that are supported by artists\u2019 talks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2a2a2a;\">present exhibitions that question, inform, and inspire through engagement with the larger community.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3f3f3f;\"><span style=\"color: #2a2a2a;\"><strong>WE WILL BE SELECTING ARTWORK THAT MOST CLEARLY ALIGNS WITH OUR GALLERY MISSION AND THAT UTILIZE NEW WORKS DEDICATED TO DEEPLY TRANSFORMING THE GALLERY SPACE<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>FOR THE VIEWING PUBLIC. We ask all of our artists to embrace the window view as a primary exhibition experience. Please address this in your application by telling us about this vantage point (it should be an integral part of your exhibit).<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\"><strong>APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"color: #3f3f3f;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">(ALL MATERIALS SHOULD BE AT PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS FOR SUBMISSION)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3f3f3f;\">Exhibition proposal: a written outline of the theme and scope of the immersive installation and how it will utilize\/transform the gallery. Please tell us how you are approaching the two gallery experiences, both inside the gallery and the street view through the windows.`<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3f3f3f;\"><strong>Supporting visual materials in the form of jpeg, audio or video file. Do this by going to the right of your Dropbox folder and clicking &#8220;share&#8221; then entering our email address.\u00a0 Dropbox is automatically share this file to our account.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3f3f3f;\">PLEASE\u00a0<u>DO NOT<\/u>\u00a0MAIL OR EMAIL SUBMISSION MATERIALS.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #2a2a2a; font-size: x-large;\"><strong>GENERAL EXHIBITION INFORMATION<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #2a2a2a;\">METHOD will provide:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>One, 6-8 week solo exhibition in our professional, non-profit gallery, free of charge to the artist,<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2a2a2a;\">Studio visit and curatorial input. Studio visit occurs 5-6 weeks prior to install. 75% of work must be completed at this time.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2a2a2a;\">Guidance and assistance in the installation of the show. We also ask that artists be open for constructive criticism during the studio visit and install period.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2a2a2a;\">METHOD staff to sit during public hours. Other arrangements may be considered with prior approval.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2a2a2a;\">METHOD will provide a loan agreement for the piece(s) of work displayed. Artists are responsible for all sales and are asked to\u00a0 make a 30% tax deductible donation to METHOD to help offset overheads costs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #2a2a2a;\">METHOD will produce press releases and advertising through social media and possibly some local print listings. All PR including social media will be initiated by METHOD.
