{"id":2808,"date":"2020-01-11T12:00:40","date_gmt":"2020-01-11T20:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/?p=2808"},"modified":"2020-01-10T10:45:16","modified_gmt":"2020-01-10T18:45:16","slug":"snag-2020-juried-student-exhibition-accepting-submissions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/2020\/01\/11\/snag-2020-juried-student-exhibition-accepting-submissions\/","title":{"rendered":"SNAG 2020 Juried Student Exhibition Accepting Submissions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>2020\u2019s conference will mark another historic milestone:\u00a0<strong>the 50th anniversary of SNAG\u2019s first conference.<\/strong>\u00a0 Since the original group of smiths came together at the organization\u2019s first conference in 1970, the impact continues to resonate in the organization as SNAG endeavors to positively influence and enhance the livelihood of its large membership. While the 2019 Conference in Chicago celebrated SNAG\u2019s 50th birthday and reflected on the last fifty years, in 2020 we will turn our focus to the future.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In keeping with the theme of the conference, SNAG\u2019s 2019 Juried Student Exhibition, entitled &#8220;Grit to Gold&#8221; will focus on the future of the field.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The exhibition will be held at University of the Arts in Philadelphia during the 2020 SNAG Conference, May 20-23.<\/p>\n<p>Prizes include:<br \/>\n\u2022Best in Show &#8211; $50 in Trunk Show Bucks and a \u00bc page ad in\u00a0<em>Metalsmith<\/em>, which will be highlighted throughout the year within SNAG marketing<br \/>\n\u20222 Honorable Mentions &#8211; $25 Trunk Show Bucks and SNAG Swag Bag<\/p>\n<p>Additionally,\u00a0<em>Metalsmith<\/em>\u00a0will run a one page highlight featuring the Best in Show winner and the two Honorable Mentions. The highlight will run in issue 4 of vol. 40 which publishes in Fall 2020.<\/p>\n<p><b>Eligibility:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i>All matriculating or non-matriculating students, part time or full time, under the direction of faculty in any North American institution are welcome to apply. Images of up to three pieces of original artwork relating to the exhibition theme and created between January 2019 and January 2020 may be submitted for consideration. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Artworks included in previous SNAG student exhibitions are not eligible. Students must provide the name(s) of metal faculty teaching at their institution. SNAG membership is not required.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Entry Procedure:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b>Submit all application materials electronically through CaF\u00c9\u2122 at\u00a0<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/artist.callforentry.org\/festivals_unique_info.php?ID=7215\"><b>www.callforentry.org<\/b><\/a>\u00a0Only applications submitted through CaF\u00c9\u2122 will be accepted.\u00a0<strong>Extended d<\/strong><b>eadline: Midnight MST, January 27, 2020.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For detailed instructions on using the site, click on CaF\u00c9\u2122 Help. Instructions on how to format images to CaF\u00c9\u2122 specifications can be found online. Entries submitted by any method other than through www.callforentry.org will NOT be accepted.<\/li>\n<li>Submit one to three images of work. All work must be accompanied by title, material, dimensions, and year of completion.<\/li>\n<li>Artists must also submit:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Artist statement (250 word maximum)<\/li>\n<li>One-page resume<\/li>\n<li>Name of institution\/program of study and faculty<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*All decisions of the jurors are final. All work must be original.
