We believe this beautiful artform \u2013 reimagined \u2013 will transform our own lives, as well as those of our community.<\/span><\/h2>\n<div>\n<div class=\"style__content___3RjbM\">\n<div class=\"style__text___2ilXR style__large___3qwwG style__tight___RF4uH\">\n<div>With concerts September through May, 45 renowned musicians tour the region performing thematically curated classical music selections. The Seattle Times describes Emerald City Music as the \u201cplace where art and audience collide\u201d, because of the personal and casual nature of the concert experience.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Emerald City Music seeks a motivated, curious, and detail-oriented intern for Fall. This internship is well suited for college students in Seattle, Tacoma, or Olympia, WA who are seeking careers in arts administration or are curious to learn more about the arts management field.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><em>Internship Dates: August 15 \u2013 December 31<\/em><\/div>\n<div>Interns are expected to work approximately 5 \u2013 8 hours per week on non-event weeks, with increased commitment (10 \u2013 15 hours per week) during event weeks. Interns are required to be present at all evening performances in Seattle and Olympia, WA (during event weeks, three weeks only in the Fall), and are responsible for coordinating reliable transportation. If transportation prohibits participation in the internship, carpooling can be arranged with advanced notice.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Responsibilities \u2013 General<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>Stage and Event Work:<\/div>\n<div>&#8211; Learn the complete production schedule including when and where all events will take place, and become familiar with the artist roster<\/div>\n<div>&#8211; Assist with preparation of all concert and event spaces including stage load-in and installation, lighting and audio load-in and setup<\/div>\n<div>&#8211; Assist rehearsals and concerts while providing whatever support the musicians and production staff need<\/div>\n<div>&#8211; Help run all events including coordinating stage changes, running lighting,<\/div>\n<div>coordinating usher volunteers, assisting outside vendors, monitoring<\/div>\n<div>backstage areas, and ensuring safety and security of artists<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Administrative Work:<\/div>\n<div>&#8211; Providing excellent customer service to patrons and community members,<\/div>\n<div>requiring an in-depth study and strong command of the organization\u2019s<\/div>\n<div>offerings and programming, venues, schedule of private and public events,<\/div>\n<div>artist roster, ticketing policies, and membership benefits<\/div>\n<div>&#8211; Conducting donor research, maintaining donor records in a database<\/div>\n<div>&#8211; Communicating with outside vendors and helping solicit in-kind food,<\/div>\n<div>decoration, and event donations and discounts from local businesses<\/div>\n<div>&#8211; Assisting social media, patron communications, and blog writing<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\u2013 Interest in nonprofit management, arts management, or event planning<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 Solid understanding of excellent customer service practices<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 Outstanding communication and organization skills<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 Proven attention to detail and ability to multi-task efficiently<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, email, etc.)<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment with a friendly demeanor<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 Availability, energy, and willingness to work occasional evenings and late nights<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 Ability to lift and carry at least 40 pounds<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 Valid driver\u2019s license and reliable transportation<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>To Apply:<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>Send your resume to Andrew Goldstein, Executive Director, through<a href=\"https:\/\/uw.joinhandshake.com\/postings?query=arts&amp;ref=global-search\"> Handshake<\/a>, and include a cover page explaining your interest in Emerald City Music\u2019s mission.
