About FEEST:<\/strong>
\nFEEST<\/a> is an organization led by youth of color in South Seattle and South King County working to improve health in their schools. We believe that systemic change is necessary for young people\u2019s physical and mental wellbeing. Rooted radical joy, we elevate youth of color as powerful organizers toward health justice.<\/p>\n

At the foundation of our work are youth-led dinners where students gather around food, celebrate and share culture, and build community with peers. Building community on campus creates a foundation for our long-term organizing. Our campaign work focuses on building power toward policy changes that increase food access for all students, particularly food that is fresh, free, and culturally relevant. Due to COVID-19 much of our campaign work has shifted online, however this position normally involves on-campus organizing.<\/p>\n

Required Skills & Experience:<\/strong>
\nMinimum 1 year of experience (paid or volunteer) working with high school youth through: mentoring, leadership development or organizing
\nA proven track record in supporting the leadership of young people of color, youth from immigrant families and youth from low-income backgrounds; and a willingness to take leadership from young people themselves
\nExperience in or demonstrated commitment to incorporating the art and cultural work in education and organizing to build collective power
\nExperience developing curriculum for workshops, leadership trainings, or political education for diverse audiences
\nStrong facilitation skills
\nStrong planning and time management skills
\nA demonstrated knowledge and commitment to apply racial, gender and economic justice lenses to youth and organizing work
\nAbility to build strong relationships with community partners, young people and work towards coalition building and a collective vision
\nAbility to work with a team, have strong communication, sense of humor, collaboration and self-initiative; ability to give and receive constructive feedback<\/p>\n

Desired Qualifications<\/strong>
\nExperience with grass-roots organizing strategies
\nExperience with strengths-based conflict resolution and transformative justice tools
\nExperience and knowledge of food justice and healthy equity work
\nExperience in building out programs within a school setting and district administrators
\nFamiliarity with South Seattle and\/or South King County<\/p>\n

Primary Job Responsibilities<\/strong>
\nEmpower youth fellows to organize, build power, and win policy changes that increase healthy food access for all students. Manage youth skill building, leadership development, and execution of creative, joyful tactics to build the movement for health equity in South Seattle and South King County.<\/p>\n

Youth Organizing (45%)<\/strong> \u2013 Youth leaders strategize and run dynamic, engaging campaigns that win tangible improvements
\nEstablish dynamic and energizing organizing programming with new youth leaders at respective school sites or online
\nEngage in collective visioning with staff and youth to create FEEST\u2019s organizing strategy
\nConduct creative and effective outreach and relationship building strategies to build a strong base of supporters and strengthen health justice campaigns. This includes cultivating deep relationships with student population, dinner participants, community allies, and staff at each school
\nSupport youth campaign research by running engaging strategies to collect community feedback, researching policies, elected officials, campaign tactics
\nSupport youth leaders in developing comprehensive organizing strategy, power mapping, and executing tactics to put pressure on Decision Makers<\/p>\n

Youth Mentorship & Skill Building (35%)<\/strong> \u2013 Youth leaders are trained and mentored to design and run engaging and effective campaigns
\nCoordinate and facilitate 2-4 youth leader meetings a week at respective school sites or online
\nDesign and facilitate weekly organizing curriculum and meeting agendas; plan out youth skill building and development each quarter
\nMentor youth leaders in organizing skill building and preparing for Decision Maker meetings
\nCo-design and facilitate a two week youth organizing summer camp for incoming leaders. Responsibilities include: Developing curriculum on youth organizing, food justice, skill building, leadership development; managing new partnerships, guest speakers, volunteers; coordinating food and transportation logistics
\nCo-design and facilitate quarterly all-leader team retreats, and annual fellowship graduation, including; curriculum and agenda development, food and transportation coordination<\/p>\n

Admin (15%)<\/strong> \u2013 Campaign team planning and coordination is efficient; FEEST relationships are strong
\nSteward school and district relationships. This includes prompt communication and relationship management with Decision Makers, school staff, allies, community partners
\nCreate efficient and proactive work plan to execute strategic program outcome goals
\nManage program budgeting, track fellow attendance, curriculum, and time sheets
\nCoordinate annual outreach and hiring of new youth leaders<\/p>\n

Organization-wide (5%)<\/strong> \u2013 All team events are supported with collaborative spirit
\nManage youth participation and leadership development for organizational events including Fresh Flavor and Make Food Make Fam
\nParticipate in team-wide fundraising activities including phone-banking and individual asks
\nAdditional Information<\/strong>
\nApplications will be accepted on a rolling basis and the position is open until filled, but applications received on or before August 17, 2020 will be prioritized.<\/p>\n

Salary range:<\/strong> $48-51k annually with room to grow, 40 hours per week
\nWe provide full medical, dental and vision benefits, generous paid time off, and access to professional development each year.
\nJob location:<\/strong> Remote work to start due to COVID-19. Resuming in-office operations TBD.
\nAccess to a vehicle is highly recommended. Our program sites are far-reaching across White Center, South Seattle, Rainier Beach and Sea-Tac and our office is not very accessible by transit.<\/p>\n
