This is a great\u00a0opportunity for currently enrolled\u00a0undergraduate or graduate students who want to observe and participate in real world application of their current field of study. This opportunity will allow\u00a0the intern\u00a0to gain valuable experience within the Research &amp; Innovation program under our Passenger Experience department.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sound Transit\u2019s Passenger Experience (PX) department puts the passenger experience at the core of strategy and decision making, ensuring the Sound Transit will plan, deliver, and operate a world class transportation system that improves the quality of life for everyone in the Puget Sound region. We strive to provide passengers with an available, safe, dependable, clean and informed transit experience on all of our services \u2013 Link, Sounder, ST Express, and Tacoma Link.<\/p>\n<p>The Research Team\u00a0exists to support the strategic mission,\u00a0values, and goals\u00a0of Sound Transit.\u00a0We\u00a0strive to integrate knowledge across diverse disciplines\u00a0in order\u00a0to address unanswered questions\u00a0and to solve specific agency problems.\u00a0\u00a0We\u00a0intentionally organize information and research\u00a0in order to\u00a0help\u00a0the agency\u00a0become\u00a0a data-driven organization\u00a0and to demonstrate the\u00a0quality and\u00a0positive impacts good research practices can yield.\u00a0The usefulness of new and enhanced knowledge gained through this research\u00a0process\u00a0will\u00a0be applied to enhance the transportation system\u00a0and positively impact our ridership.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The following duties\u00a0<strong>ARE NOT<\/strong>\u00a0intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>An undergraduate student entering their junior or senior year with the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interest in creating and implementing user assessment tools and conducting user experience studies.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in multiple formats and to diverse audiences.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to summarize complex findings and present results of assessment activities.<\/li>\n<li>Energy and enthusiasm for user-focused services<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This intern will work to develop relationships with Sound Transit\u2019s internal user communities and will utilize the information gathered from these interviews to identify and prioritize needs as they pertain to the information-seeking behaviors of staff. Working collaboratively within the Research team, the intern will be responsible for the development and implementation of user interviews and personas which will improve the overall quality of internal information services and the overall user experience.
