Interns who enjoy finding levity in all things wonky, or tackling seemingly lighthearted topics with intelligence and humor will do especially well here. Yes, these internships involve a\u00a0lot of fact-checking, but our editors are eager to help talented young writers hone their craft (and get some great clips).<\/p>\n<address>Our editorial interns have gone on to work for\u00a0<em>Vanity Fair<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Playboy<\/em>, Eater Seattle, Chef Steps,\u00a0<em>Time<\/em>,\u00a0<em>The Nation<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Vice<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Crosscut,<\/em>\u00a0<em>Seattle Weekly, The Seattle Times, Bloomberg<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>The Stranger<\/em>. Past interns have also joined\u00a0<em>Seattle Met<\/em>\u00a0and other publications under SagaCity Media.<\/address>\n<p>The internship is paid and lasts six months; we ask for a commitment of 20 hours a week with flexible scheduling.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Responsibilities<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Write for the\u00a0website and magazine<\/li>\n<li>Assist editors with research and reporting<\/li>\n<li>Fact-check and proofread<\/li>\n<li>Transcribe interviews<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Qualifications<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Background in journalism and\/or creative writing<\/li>\n<li>Ability to jump between often disparate tasks<\/li>\n<li>Strong proofreading skills<\/li>\n<li>Deadline oriented<\/li>\n<li>Independent and self-motivated<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Compensation<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>$13.69 per hour and can be used to fulfill school credit.<\/p>\n<h5>How to Apply<\/h5>\n<p>We accept applications on a rolling basis for all terms (winter, spring, summer, fall).\u00a0Applications will be accepted until spots are filled.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Email\u00a0the following<\/strong>: a cover letter that indicates your desired term or start date (for example, \u201cfall\u201d or \u201cSeptember 12\u201d), a resume, three references, and links or documents to three brief writing samples (if you don\u2019t have clips, write two event listings\u00a0<em>and<\/em>\u00a0one blog post in the style of\u00a0<em>Seattle Met<\/em>).
