{"id":4505,"date":"2021-04-13T11:23:10","date_gmt":"2021-04-13T18:23:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/?p=4505"},"modified":"2021-04-13T11:23:10","modified_gmt":"2021-04-13T18:23:10","slug":"mopop-seeks-digital-collections-archivist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/2021\/04\/13\/mopop-seeks-digital-collections-archivist\/","title":{"rendered":"MoPOP Seeks Digital Collections Archivist"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>MoPOP Seeks Digital Collections Archivist<\/h4>\n<h5>Position Summary<\/h5>\n<p>As part of a larger team composed of personnel from the Collections, Exhibitions, IT, and Curatorial teams at the Museum of Pop Culture, this position is responsible for the research, metadata writing, and preparation of associated digital files for artifacts within the museum\u2019s Early Hip-Hop Collection. This position works closely with digital repository software solutions including TMS and eMuseum. This position helps ensure the complete digitization and ingestion of the selected 1,300+ artifacts and ephemera from MoPOP\u2019s Early Hip-Hop Collection. An understanding and appreciation for early hip-hop is essential for this work.<\/p>\n<p>This is a temporary full time position beginning July 1, 2021 and forecasted to run through March 2023.<\/p>\n<h5>Essential Job Functions (Other Duties As Assigned):<\/h5>\n<p><strong>Digital Infrastructure and Preservation:<\/strong><br \/>\nWork with the Collectons team and Curators to ensure ingestion of metadata to the online portal<br \/>\nEnsure data standardization across a selection of early the hip-hop collection<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scholarship and Service:<\/strong><br \/>\nResearch artifacts<br \/>\nEnsure complete and accurate metadata for each TMS record including: description, copyright information, title, etc.<br \/>\nEnsure adequate photographs are associated with each record, appropriate to the level of copyright. For any records that are missing photographs, work alongside the Collections Team to capture appropriate images.<br \/>\nDigitize 80 oral history filmed recordings.<br \/>\nOutreach:<br \/>\nConduct at least two remote donor lectures\/discussions about the museum\u2019s early hip-hop collection.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Desired Qualifications:<\/strong><br \/>\nHigh-level knowledge of 1970s \u2013 1990s hip-hop.<br \/>\nExcellent interpersonal, verbal, written, organizational, problem-solving and planning skills.<br \/>\nAbility to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively both as a team member and independently and to promote teamwork among colleagues.<br \/>\nCommitment to working with diverse communities.<br \/>\nExperience working with or supporting a Content Management System (The Museum System (TMS) preferred).<br \/>\nExperience managing digital asset systems\/collections.<br \/>\nFamiliarity with current trends in digital library initiatives, digital curation, and digital preservation standards.<br \/>\nStrong attention to access, privacy, and security issues.<br \/>\nUnderstanding and familiarity with technical standards for metadata (preferably Getty Art and Architecture Thesaurus and Cataloguing Cultural Artifacts).<br \/>\nSelf-directed project management skills.<br \/>\nEfficient and detail oriented.<br \/>\nDemonstrated skills for multi-tasking.<br \/>\nWorking knowledge of IP requirements for digital collections<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This Temporary, Full Time position includes a generous benefits package that will be shared during the hiring process.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/www.paycomonline.net\/v4\/ats\/web.php\/jobs\/ViewJobDetails?job=30876&amp;clientkey=F92B512A03014D8D68A8910278240902\">For full job description and to apply click here!<\/a><\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MoPOP Seeks Digital Collections Archivist Position Summary As part of a larger team composed of personnel from the Collections, Exhibitions, IT, and Curatorial teams at the Museum of Pop Culture, this position is responsible for the research, metadata writing, and preparation of associated digital files for artifacts within the museum\u2019s Early Hip-Hop Collection.
