Become a gallery guide and get involved behind the scenes at the Frye Art Museum.\u00a0 Gallery guides give tours to K-12 classes, university students, and the general public.\u00a0 The Frye is looking for applicants to start in September 2016.<\/p>\n
Gallery guides commit to one year of service and lead at least two tours each month. School tours are offered Tuesday-Thursday from 10 am to 12 pm. Public tours are offered Wednesday-Sunday at 1 pm. Private tours are offered from 2 to 3 pm.\u00a0 Public guides are expected to stay from 1 to 3 pm if a private tour is scheduled.<\/p>\n
Prior to leading tours, guides will attend a week-long training, scheduled for September 12-16.\u00a0 Guides will learn about the Frye’s collection and exhibitions as well as discover best practices to engage visitors in looking at and discussing works of art.\u00a0 Attendance at this week-long training is mandatory to participate in the gallery guide program. Monthly trainings also give opportunity for growth and learning.\u00a0 Guides should be available 10 am-12 pm on the third Friday of each month to attend monthly trainings.<\/p>\n
As a gallery guide, you will receive exclusive access to the Frye collections and special exhibitions.\u00a0 All Frye volunteers receive a 15% discount in the Museum Store and Caf\u00e9, as well as a complimentary coffee or tea during their shift.\u00a0 Museum membership, including discounts on education programs and events, is also included as part of your volunteer benefits.\u00a0 An annual reception is held to celebrate the work of all Frye volunteers.<\/p>\n
