Four (4) mentors will work with Undergraduate Community-Based Internships (UCBI), and one mentor (1) will work with College &amp; Career Readiness Assistants (CCRAs).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Program Description: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through a partnership between the UW Career &amp; Internship Center and the CELE Center, our paid internship programs connect undergraduates with public schools and nonprofit organizations. Students interested in public sector careers get the chance to explore, contribute, and grow personally and professionally as they work in, with, and for local communities. The majority of these undergraduate internships take place in South Seattle, South King County, and the University District.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This experiential learning opportunity provides students with community and school-based work experience, near-peer mentorship, professional and personal development opportunities, and cohort discussions around identity, power, privilege, and oppression.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Hours: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">12-15 hours per week during academic quarters (Autumn, Winter, and Spring). Position begins on <\/span><b>Wednesday, September 14, 2022<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and ends on <\/span><b>Friday, June 9, 2023<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Compensation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> $21.25 per hour\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Position Description: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The CELE Center works with a team of graduate and\/or advanced undergraduate students in the ongoing development and implementation of our paid internship programs. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UCBI\/CCRA Mentors receive training and support from CELE staff before and throughout the academic year. Mentors engage in weekly team meetings and biweekly one-on-one supervision meetings in which they receive ongoing support and individualized feedback from CELE Center Program Managers and other mentors on their team.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Learning Goals: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The UCBI\/CCRA Mentor role provides a unique opportunity to learn about program administration, support community\/school-based partnerships, facilitate student learning around equity issues, and link experiential opportunities to career readiness. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>Learning Objectives:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Professional development &#8212; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mentors will develop leadership and communication skills by cultivating relationships with school and community partners and collaboratively supervising and mentoring undergraduate interns.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Student learning, support, and engagement &#8212; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mentors will learn to engage and support undergraduate students using an equity lens from the intern recruitment phase through program implementation. Mentors will gain hands-on experience in co-curricular content development and facilitation around critical issues including identity, power, privilege, oppression, and anti-racism.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Program evaluation and assessment &#8212; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mentors will solicit and analyze feedback from interns and community\/school partners throughout all phases of the program. They will develop skills to use formative and summative assessments to evaluate and improve paid internship practices through the CELE Center.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UCBI\/CCRA Mentors will engage in the following activities:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Mentor and facilitate learning for undergraduate interns<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Work with undergraduate interns to develop personal and professional development plans as they relate to their internship goals<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meet with students individually and in small groups to provide opportunities for reflection and coaching in relation to their goals<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coordinate and facilitate professional development sessions and cohort meetings to foster personal and professional development opportunities for interns<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Develop and deliver content around identity\/positionality, racial equity, and asset-based community development\/strengths-based perspective<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Implement collaborative performance and program evaluation processes<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><i>In addition to mentoring undergraduates, UCBI\/CCRA mentors may lead or assist with the following responsibilities:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support outreach, recruitment, and application\/selection processes for intern candidates<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Facilitate orientations for UCBI host organizations and interns<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Foster strong partnerships with school partners and community-based organizations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maintain communication with interns, schools and organizations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identify resources and connect with community organizations that support the work and goals of undergraduate interns<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support student learning through assessment and feedback in Canvas<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Collaborate with CELE staff to engage program alumni<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*We seek to hire a balanced team with a variety of skills. Some mentors may focus more on communication with interns while others may focus more specifically on partner communication. No individual mentor is expected to take on all the responsibilities listed above.\u00a0 <\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Qualifications:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ideal UCBI\/CCRA mentor candidate is&#8230;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A graduate student with work and\/or lived experience with community-based organizations, BIPOC communities, or social justice movements\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Undergraduate students in their third or fourth year are welcome to apply.
