We believe the more you engage with design, the more you feel connected to your changing city. As a volunteer driven organization, we provide programs which will empower you to make a difference in your community.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Project Description<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">SAF serves students at school and community sites throughout Greater Seattle, providing workshops designed to connect students to the built environment through hands-on design and modeling projects. Current middle school and community partners are:\u00a0Coyote Central (Central District), Washington Middle School (Central District), The Northwest School (Capitol Hill), Denny International Middle School (West Seattle)\u00a0and Open Window School (Bellevue).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Qualifications<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">1-2 years of experience working with elementary, middle or high school students<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Study\u00a0or practice\u00a0related to architecture,\u00a0design, art and\/or urbanism<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Commitment to working within a racial, gender, and class equity framework<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Willing to submit to background checks<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Candidates with availability to continue working through the Summer<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Candidates with access to a vehicle.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Basic Expectations<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Participate in paid training and planning sessions by SAF.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Attend on-site paid orientation sessions\u00a0or recruitment\u00a0as needed\u00a0with partners.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Lead lessons and activities at school\u00a0and community sites.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Support and delegate to SAF guest architect volunteers\u00a0in the classroom.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Work collaboratively with the SAF Program Director and school partners to meet the needs of students.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Term<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">We are currently hiring\u00a0a candidate to begin March 1<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">st<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">, 2023. <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">This candidate\u00a0would facilitate\u00a0a 90-minute\u00a0course in West Seattle that runs 1 day a week with additional\u00a0paid hours for training and prep time. Programs run concurrently throughout the school year, so there are opportunities to work\u00a0at multiple schools\u00a0and community sites.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Additional opportunities and hours are available through facilitating workshops hosted at the Center for Architecture and Design (SAF office)\u00a0in\u00a0Downtown Seattle, on-site workshops at area schools, and\u00a0summer partnerships.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Compensation\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The Design Instructor position is paid hourly at $20-$25\/hour, DOE.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Additional reimbursement for mileage and travel time benefits.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Benefits<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Gain experience teaching Design, Architecture and Neighborhood\u00a0focused curriculum\u00a0to middle\u00a0school youth, with opportunities to collaborate in the design of curriculum.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Sharpen communication and presentation skills.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">The opportunity to work with amazing students throughout Greater Seattle\u00a0to encourage their passions and demonstrate how they can promote positive change in their community through architecture &amp; design.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Network with professionals in the Seattle architecture &amp; design community.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Attend most SAF tours and events for FREE.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The Seattle Architecture Foundation is proud to be an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity, equity,\u00a0and inclusion.
