{"id":6347,"date":"2023-02-23T14:25:46","date_gmt":"2023-02-23T22:25:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/?p=6347"},"modified":"2023-02-23T14:25:46","modified_gmt":"2023-02-23T22:25:46","slug":"uw-recycling-trash-art-content-call-for-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/2023\/02\/23\/uw-recycling-trash-art-content-call-for-art\/","title":{"rendered":"UW Recycling Trash Art Content &#8211; Call for Art"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>How to Submit<\/h1>\n<p>Participants must fill out the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdAw8oGNiKYDnRkXdQ4RrbBspXnFgoT91ePJREJH8tEHwY9TQ\/viewform\">submission form<\/a> by <strong>Wednesday March 22, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. PST<\/strong>. <em>Submission <\/em><em>must include: artist name, medium, piece name, and a brief description of the art piece.<\/em><\/p>\n<h1>Contest Rules<\/h1>\n<p><em>Submissions that do not meet these requirements will not be considered.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Artist must be a current UW student, faculty or staff<\/li>\n<li>The art piece may not be a piece previously submitted to the<\/li>\n<li>The art piece can be an individual or group <em>Each participant may only submit one art project, whether it is a group project or individual submission.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>The theme should relate to waste or a broader sustainability<\/li>\n<li>The art piece may be submitted under one of the following categories:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Literature <\/strong>(essay, poetry, drama, story or other written work)<\/li>\n<li><strong>2D <\/strong>(painting, photography, collage or other pieces that may be hung from a wall)<\/li>\n<li><strong>3D <\/strong>(sculpture, model or other pieces that stand upright)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>2D and 3D art pieces must be composed of recycled, salvaged or collected litter materials, or express sentiments on the subject matter.<\/li>\n<li>All projects should be safe to handle (no hazards, ) along with being socially and culturally appropriate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Judging Criteria<\/h1>\n<p>A first and second place winner will be chosen for each category. Each category will be scored based on the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Originality\/creativity<\/li>\n<li>Interpretation and clarity of waste\/sustainability theme<\/li>\n<li>Material usage<\/li>\n<li>Relevance to personal and\/or the UW campus waste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Prizes<\/h1>\n<p>Each winning entry will receive one e-gift card of their choosing to one of the following locations. 1st place winners for each category will receive a $100 e-gift card and 2nd place winners will receive a $50 dollar<\/p>\n<p>e-gift card.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/apublicshop.com\/\">PUBLIC<\/a> (West Seattle)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecocollective.com\/?aff=5&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQiAkZKNBhDiARIsAPsk0WivnsB-iBNZHCJ9apHIVS6OiIXSCo-mJOOuUQ737V3kXzL8ALWC81YaAuNcEALw_wcB\">Eco Collective<\/a> (online)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seattlerecreative.org\/\">Seattle ReCreative<\/a> (Seattle)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All winners will also have their art piece, artist bio, and piece description highlighted on UW Recycling\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/uwrecycling\/\">Instagram,<\/a> as well as a blog post on UW Sustainability\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/green.uw.edu\/blog\/2021-04\/2021-trash-art-contest-winners-get-creative-environment\">In Our Nature<\/a> blog.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How to Submit Participants must fill out the submission form by Wednesday March 22, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. PST.
