Coyote Central<\/a>\u00a0is looking for shop assistants to help with our wood & metal classes this fall. This is a paid position, which we are aiming to fill ASAP!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Shop Assistant Position Description<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

The Shop Assistant is compensated for their time and expertise and asked to support the Teaching Artist in hands-on ways in the classroom. The Shop Assistant is responsible for working with small groups of youth, reviewing demos for students, and ensuring that students are safe with equipment. Ideally, we are looking for someone who is comfortable around shop tools and around kids!<\/div>\n

Responsibilities<\/u><\/b>
\n\u25cf Support Teaching Artist in daily classes, including active hands-on work with youth<\/div>\n
\u25cf Provide an extra set of hands in demonstrations or group activities
\n\u25cf Independently oversee small groups of actively working students
\n\u25cf Help with clean up, set-up and transitions
\n\u25cf Help identify and assist students who may need extra support
\n\u25cf Engage youth with open-ended questions to guide them in critical thinking and finding possible solutions on their own
\n\u25cf Monitor students\u2019 activity and ensure that they s are using equipment safely and as instructed<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Qualifications<\/u><\/b>
\n\u25cf Proficiency with hand tools and power tools within the wood and\/or metal shop.<\/div>\n
\u25cf Ability to safely operate all tools in the shop.
\n\u25cf Willingness to work as a member of a team, taking cues from the Teaching Artist<\/div>\n
\u25cf Competency listening to and problem-solving with students of diverse backgrounds<\/div>\n
\u25cf Ability to initiate conversation with youth rather than waiting for youth to come to you<\/div>\n
\u25cf Personal integrity and a passion for enriching the lives of youth through creativity<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

We ask that our youth shop assistants commit to attending ALL sessions of each course.\u00a0 \u00a0Here are the timeslots we need to fill:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
