Artists from around the world come to Pottery Northwest to engage in artistic dialogue and as a formative step in their careers. Exhibitions that feature traditional and contemporary work, community classes, and studio access are all features of this organization, located in Pioneer Square.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"sqsrte-text-color--accent\"><strong>Position Summary<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"\">The Studio Technician will join the studio team at Pottery Northwest\u2019s full-scale, community ceramics studio in the Pioneer Square neighborhood of Seattle. The studio team at Pottery Northwest is responsible for the upkeep of the overall studio space, equipment, and materials, assisting with the Apprentice program, and supporting our classes and events. The Studio Tech will work under the supervision of the Studio Managers to keep up with the operations and maintenance of the studio.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"block-a4c912e79794697ec193\" class=\"sqs-block spacer-block sqs-block-spacer sized vsize-1\" data-block-type=\"21\">\n<div class=\"sqs-block-content\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"block-efb5c1dd80c4926891b5\" class=\"sqs-block html-block sqs-block-html\" data-block-type=\"2\">\n<div class=\"sqs-block-content\">\n<div class=\"sqs-html-content\">\n<h3><span class=\"sqsrte-text-color--accent\"><strong>Hours, Location, &amp; Conditions<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Type:<\/strong> Part-time, hourly; permanent<br \/>\n<strong>Reports to:<\/strong> Studio Managers<br \/>\n<strong>Remote\/On-site:<\/strong> 100% onsite<br \/>\n<strong>Pay:<\/strong> $22\/hour<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Benefits:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-rte-list=\"default\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">2 hours PTO accrued for every 40 hours worked<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">1 hour sick leave accrued for every 40 hours worked<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Monthly commuter stipend<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Complimentary classes, workshops, studio usage, and dedicated shelving<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Shift Times:<\/strong> This role will be 100% onsite, with the 20 hours spread across three days each week. This role will need to work 2pm to 9pm on one weekend day, and 8am-2pm on a weekday, ideally on Wednesdays. The final 7-hour shift can be agreed upon based on the candidate\u2019s schedule and the studio team\u2019s needs.<br \/>\nOne weekend shift is required, but for the right candidate, we can be flexible on the weekday shifts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"block-67c7e2bb1c6d25f2baa6\" class=\"sqs-block spacer-block sqs-block-spacer sized vsize-1\" data-block-type=\"21\">\n<div class=\"sqs-block-content\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"block-d9080faff7f5414e7747\" class=\"sqs-block html-block sqs-block-html\" data-block-type=\"2\">\n<div class=\"sqs-block-content\">\n<div class=\"sqs-html-content\">\n<h3><span class=\"sqsrte-text-color--accent\"><strong>Duties &amp; Responsibilities<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h4><span class=\"sqsrte-text-color--accent\">Studio Operations (95%)\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Facilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-rte-list=\"default\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Assist with day-to-day maintenance, upkeep, and effective functioning of the studio.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Monitor, repair, and maintain studio equipment such as kilns, wheels, shop tools, etc.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Maintain studio glazes, slips, chemicals, clay, and dry materials, including mixing and making glazes and recycling\/reclaiming clay.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Organize studio tools, equipment, and materials as needed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Perform facilities maintenance as needed (replacing air filters, minor repairs, etc.)).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Independently load, fire, and unload electric kilns.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Clean and maintain studio tools, sinks, equipment, materials, and floors.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Take out studio trash &amp; recycling.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Deep clean the studio once per week before opening hours.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Assist with unloading clay and supply deliveries.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Assist in the fabrication of special projects such as new test tile walls in classrooms and other classroom and studio improvements.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Assist with unloading and loading clay deliveries<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"sqsrte-text-color--black\"><strong>Classes\/Workshop &amp; Events<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul data-rte-list=\"default\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Help move student work through the firing cycles in a timely fashion.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Glaze and package work for one-time classes and parties as needed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Assist with set-up and breakdown for workshops and events.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Maintain workshop supplies and materials.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"sqsrte-text-color--black\"><strong>Studio Apprentice &amp; Monitor Support<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul data-rte-list=\"default\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Under the direction of the studio managers, support and guide the Apprentices and Studio Monitors as needed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Student &amp; Studio Support<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-rte-list=\"default\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Monitor the studio, answering the door and the studio\/office phone as needed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Answer student questions, grab clay for students, and assist students in the studio as needed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Assist with quarterly clay and dry materials inventory.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"sqsrte-large\"><span class=\"sqsrte-text-color--accent\">Shared Leadership (5%)<\/span><\/p>\n<ul data-rte-list=\"default\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Participate in team check-ins, staff meetings, and planning and support for Pottery Northwest events as needed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Identify and participate in professional development opportunities that advance skills for the role.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\">Produce an annual work plan and review.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\"><em><\/p>\n<p>This job description is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required for this position.
