Funds for this public art project were generated through the renovations of UW\u2019s Magnuson Building and Anderson Hall.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contact<\/strong><br \/>\nMike Sweney, Art in Public Places Program Manager: 360.228.4080, mike.sweney@arts.wa.gov<\/p>\n<p><strong>Budget<\/strong><br \/>\nThe selected artist will receive a $30,000 design contract that includes travel and stamped, structural engineering. Upon design approval by the UW Art Selection Committee, they will receive a commission contract of $285,000, inclusive of all costs related to fabrication and installation, including sales tax and contingency.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Submissions<\/strong><br \/>\nAll materials are due by <strong>4pm, Friday, October 25, 2024<\/strong>, through ArtsWA\u2019s Submittable site. If you are unable to submit electronically, contact Alexis Sarah (alexis.sarah@arts.wa.gov or<br \/>\n360.228.6359) to discuss possible accommodations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UW vision for the art<\/strong><br \/>\nThrough a process managed by ArtsWA, the UW Art Selection Committee will select an artist or artist team to create public art for Anderson Hall or its environs. The Art Committee is interested in artwork that evokes or reflects on the innovative and varied coursework that takes place within Anderson. Information about the research, teaching, and engagement of the school is available at &#8211; Students. Other sources of inspiration may include the history and<br \/>\narchitecture of the building and surrounding architecture, or the traditions of the region\u2019s indigenous populations. Artwork may be sited within or outside the building, or both, and the selected artist will have the opportunity to work with the Anderson design team during the proposal stage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Anderson Hall<\/strong><br \/>\nAnderson Hall is the hub for the University of Washington\u2019s School of Environmental and Forest Sciences (SEFS) and plays a central role in addressing 21st-century problems facing our planet and species. Anderson Hall serves as a place for innovation in support of SEFS&#8217;s mission to improve the long-term sustainability and resilience of ecological and socio-environmental systems through cutting edge research, visionary teaching, and inclusive engagement. The School offers the state\u2019s only accredited degree programs in Forestry, Natural Resources, and Ecosystem Management, along with a highly regarded accredited engineering degree program.
