{"id":7241,"date":"2025-01-06T10:36:35","date_gmt":"2025-01-06T18:36:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/?p=7241"},"modified":"2025-01-06T10:41:54","modified_gmt":"2025-01-06T18:41:54","slug":"call-for-art-artists-first","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/2025\/01\/06\/call-for-art-artists-first\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Art- Artists First"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kirkland Arts Center, alongside the UW&#8217;s Museology Master&#8217;s Program, invites game and animation artists to submit work for our upcoming exhibition,\u00a0<em>Artists First.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><i>Artists First\u00a0<\/i>is being created to speak against the use of AI in game design and production, and to uplift the hand of the artist. It is a space for game and animation artists to create artworks that get in touch with what made you the artist you are today. We aim to showcase the range of passions of artists in the field, connect with one another, and celebrate your skills. Regardless of your job, you are artists first.<\/p>\n<p>Artworks will be judged by how they showcase your identity as an artist and\/or how they combat the new normalcy of integrating AI into the game and art worlds.<\/p>\n<p>This exhibit is juried and curated by UW\u00a0Museology candidates: Grace Gousman, Mariel Lees, and Emma Mattix-Wand<\/p>\n<p><b>Important Dates:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Submit by: January 31, 2025<\/p>\n<p>Accept\/Decline Notices: February 15, 2025<\/p>\n<p>Opening Reception Date: March 28, 2025<\/p>\n<p>Closing Date: April 25, 2025<\/p>\n<p><b>Submission Guidelines<\/b><\/p>\n<p>All works must be original and created within the last 5 years.<\/p>\n<p>Works may be any medium; however, <b>works may <em>not<\/em> contain any AI\u00a0generated material. <\/b>If you have questions about this, please email us.<\/p>\n<p>Subject matter should be suitable for general audiences<\/p>\n<p>Due to space restrictions, works cannot exceed 72&#8243; in any direction. 3-D works cannot exceed 75 lbs.<\/p>\n<p><b>Finishing &amp; Delivery<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Hanging pieces must be wired (no saw tooth hangers). Wire should be applied between 1\/4 &#8211; 1\/3 of the way down the length of the piece.<\/p>\n<p>Wet paintings will not be accepted.<\/p>\n<p>KAC\u00a0is unable to accept shipped artwork. All art must be dropped off at the gallery.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sales &amp; Commission<\/b><\/p>\n<p>All works may be sold throughout the duration of the exhibition. Sale price is determined by the artist.<\/p>\n<p>KAC collects a 40% commission on all sales.
