{"id":7520,"date":"2025-10-13T13:50:53","date_gmt":"2025-10-13T20:50:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/?p=7520"},"modified":"2025-10-13T13:50:53","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T20:50:53","slug":"ischool-seeks-communications-student-assistant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/2025\/10\/13\/ischool-seeks-communications-student-assistant\/","title":{"rendered":"iSchool seeks Communications Student Assistant"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"row push-bottom ng-scope\">\n<div class=\"col-xs-12\">\n<h6 class=\"font-weight-bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Description<\/span><\/h6>\n<div class=\"ng-isolate-scope\">\n<div class=\"sanitized ng-binding\">\n<p>The iSchool Communications team leads all brand engagement and communication for the school including oversight of the website, social media management, email outreach to constituents and all marketing\/promotions efforts.<br \/>\nThe Communications Student Assistant will play a central role in iSchool storytelling efforts, both written and multi-media.<\/p>\n<p>This position will generally work <strong>10-15 hours per week <\/strong>during winter and spring quarters and has a possibility of extension through summer quarter and\/or the following academic year, depending on performance and graduation plans.<\/p>\n<h6><strong><u>Responsibilities will include the following duties:<\/u><\/strong><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Writing\/editing<\/li>\n<li>Social media content production and management (Instagram, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Facebook and TikTok), including video elements<\/li>\n<li>Conducting interviews with students, faculty, alumni<\/li>\n<li>Website content updates &amp; management<\/li>\n<li>Other duties as assigned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This role will be a valued member of a dynamic, collaborative team and will have the opportunity to contribute to Information School communication and storytelling efforts in a myriad of ways.<br \/>\nAssistants have the opportunity to initiate and lead projects and work closely with the full Communications team.<br \/>\nOccasional evening and weekend event attendance will be required.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row push-bottom ng-scope\">\n<div class=\"col-xs-12\">\n<h6 class=\"font-weight-bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Qualifications<\/span><\/h6>\n<div class=\"ng-isolate-scope\">\n<div class=\"sanitized ng-binding\">\n<p><strong>Necessary Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at the University of Washington.<\/li>\n<li>Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (writing samples required).<\/li>\n<li>Highly organized, punctual, and reliable with a strong attention to detail.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.<\/li>\n<li>Capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively.<\/li>\n<li>Eager to learn and adapt to new responsibilities and challenges.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Desired Qualifications:<u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Given the range of work performed by the Communications team, any number of skills can be an asset to the team and experience in any of the following is welcome:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prior experience writing in journalistic style and\/or for a publication preferred (work samples\/portfolio welcome)<\/li>\n<li>Prior experience developing public-facing social media content, including video elements (work samples\/portfolio welcome)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Photography\/photo editing experience<\/li>\n<li>Video production and editing skills<\/li>\n<li>Prior project management experience<\/li>\n<li>Experience with WordPress and\/or Drupal<\/li>\n<li>Experience with Canva and\/or graphic design skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Application Instructions<\/span><\/h6>\n<p>Apply by submitting application materials (resume, examples of work, etc.) on Interfolio: <a href=\"https:\/\/apply.interfolio.com\/175053\">https:\/\/apply.interfolio.com\/175053<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row push-bottom ng-scope\">\n<div class=\"col-xs-12\">\n<div class=\"ng-isolate-scope\">\n<div class=\"sanitized ng-binding\">\n<p><strong><u>Compensation:<\/u><\/strong><em>$21.33 \u2013 22.83 per hour<br \/>\n<\/em><strong><u>Anticipated Start Date<\/u><\/strong><strong>: 01\/05\/2026<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong><u>End Date<\/u>: 06\/15\/2026<\/strong>, with the potential to extend<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Description The iSchool Communications team leads all brand engagement and communication for the school including oversight of the website, social media management, email outreach to constituents and all marketing\/promotions efforts.
