{"id":7679,"date":"2026-03-31T09:43:47","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T16:43:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/?p=7679"},"modified":"2026-03-31T09:43:47","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T16:43:47","slug":"shift-gallery-call-for-bipoc-artists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/advis104\/2026\/03\/31\/shift-gallery-call-for-bipoc-artists\/","title":{"rendered":"SHIFT GALLERY &#8211; call for BIPOC artists"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>2026 SHIFT WINDOW GALLERY \u2014 DIVERSITY GRANT APPLICATION<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div>\n<p class=\"xyiv5886603706msonormal\">Shift Gallery members recognize that art is a creative pursuit limited only by one\u2019s imagination.\u00a0 As a collective we are dedicated to showcasing narratives from a diverse population,\u00a0 particularly BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color)\u00a0and underrepresented voices in the Seattle Area.\u00a0 We are offering a $500 grant to a promising BIPOC visual artist for the opportunity to display their work in our window gallery during the month of August 2026.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"xyiv5886603706msonormal\">The $500 grant is to be used by the BIPOC artist, 18 years or older, for advancing their art practice.\u00a0 The artist may either create a new project, promote an existing project, or feature a recently completed project.\u00a0 The grantee must be available to exhibit their work in August.\u00a0 In addition, the artist is expected to attend First Thursday art walk in August (8\/6\/26) and host an artist talk or participate in a panel discussion to be coordinated with Shift in advance.\u00a0 The dimensions of the Shift Window Gallery space where the art will be displayed are approximately 85\u201d (H) x 101\u201d (W) x 43\u201d (D).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"xyiv5886603706msonormal\"><strong>To apply for the grant, please provide the following information to\u00a0<span class=\"Hyperlink0\"><a href=\"mailto:info@shiftgallery.org\">info@shiftgallery.org<\/a><\/span>\u00a0by Friday, April 3, 2026<\/strong>, and please indicate\u00a0<strong><em>2026 Shift Window Grant \u2013 Diversity Application<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0in the subject line.\u00a0\u00a0 The successful applicant must be 18 years of age or older and must be available during August 2026 to exhibit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"xyiv5886603706msonormal\"><strong>The required application information is below:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>1) A \u00a0document (Word, PDF, etc), with the following information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>File name: Last Name__First Name__<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Address, email, phone, website, Instagram handle<\/li>\n<li>BIPOC category to which you belong<\/li>\n<li>Your Art Bio\/Resume and list of the exhibitions or opportunities to date, if any, that you have participated in<\/li>\n<li>Written statement of no more than 250 words addressing what inspires you to create art and how your identity influences your artmaking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2) Art Images<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>File name:\u00a0 Last Name__ First Name__Title __Medium__ Dimensions__Year__<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sample of\u00a0<strong>five (5)<\/strong>\u00a0images of your art that represent your best work in jpeg format<\/li>\n<li>Image list detailing: Artist Name, Title, Medium, Dimensions, Year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<p class=\"xyiv5886603706msonormal\"><b>Application Deadline: Friday, April 3, 2026.<\/b>\u00a0 Application decisions will be made in the Spring of 2026.
