To be or not to be!

You can be here!

You can be here!

You definitely need to be!  With us!  The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is one of my favorite alumni tours and I look forward to it every year.  To sit under the stars savoring the beautiful words of Shakespeare is the total package.   We always have great seats, and informative and lively discussions with actors and lecturers that enhance our experience !   Add that to the great restaurants, boutiques, and parks all within walking distance of the hotel and theatre make it an incredibly relaxing mini-vacation. I’ve even explored some the wineries of the Rogue Valley which are outstanding.

Call me if you would like to join a tried and true group of Husky’s who love great theatre, good company, fine dining and the beautiful town of Ashland, Oregon this August 20 -23rd!

ADDED: India, February 2010

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Our November 2009 trip to India is now fully booked with a short waitlist! With my love of this fascinating country, I’m thrilled that more UW travelers are choosing to explore the destination.

img_08231Didn’t get a chance to sign up? Be the first to sign up for our newly added 2010 departure: February 21 – March 10. The tour will follow the same itinerary as our 2009 trip – all that’s left to be confirmed is the price. Pricing details will be posted on our website as soon as they are available.

Costa Rica, Russia, Sicily & More

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Our complete 2010 tour schedule is up on the web and ready to entice you with a wide variety of destinations. A favorite part of my position here is finding a selection of tours to appeal to different interests.

Interested in Roman ruins and volcanoes? Come with us to Sicily. Love natural wonders and the outdoors? Join us in Costa Rica. Are exciting ports, fine dining and luxury accommodations to your taste? Come along on a Crystal or Oceania cruise. Enjoy river cruising? Hop on board as we follow the Seine, Dnieper and Elbe Rivers. Always wanted to “go on safari?” Search for the “Big Five” in Kenya & Tanzania or South Africa. See what I said about variety!

angkor-wat2And don’t forget the BEST part of our tours…your traveling companions. Here’s what our travelers say about their trip mates: “…the make-up of the group was great…we traveled with a special group…our fellow travelers were wonderful..” OK – I think you get the picture.

Now that our phones are ringing again (thank you!) we’re also exploring a few other additions to the schedule. If Cuba opens up, we’ll be there in April. Both China and North India will probably be added so please continue to check our web site for the latest details.

Travel Program Staffing

Friday, May 1st, 2009

Everyone within the UW community has been hearing about the various UW lay-offs expected due to tightening of budgets, decreasing funds, etc. Unfortunately, the UW Alumni Association has been directly affected and has had to eliminate three positions – one of them from UW Alumni Tours. Today, was a sad day around the office as we had to say goodbye to valued staff members, including Deanna Nicoli who has been working in the travel program for almost five years. If you’ve called our office in the last five years, you’ve most likely spoken to Deanna and have experienced her professional, cheerful attitude. Or, you may have even traveled with her to Turkey, Peru, Provence, India or on another alumni tour that she hosted during her tenure here. We will all miss her and wish her the best of luck!

If you’d like to get in contact with Deanna and send her your good wishes, please send us an e-mail at uwaatour@u.washington.edu and we will forward the message on your behalf.
