Lobbyist: John H. and Joe Kiegel met with Steve Duncan. Steve is prepared to work for us for 3 years, covering Tom Bristow's absence. We can pay him a retainer to monitor legislative events, but whenever the need arises he can morph into a lobbyist. Steve thought that the situation justified just monitoring for now. Steve has requested some statistical information from us, and Joe has started to get the figures (related to salaries and the costs of the demise of the Washington State Library) from Charles and Betsy.
The next step is to make an offer. Randy presented the history of payments to lobbyists and the state of the legislative fund. The main concern is to make a decent offer that doesn't commit us to something we can't afford. The board decided on a tentative offer, but John will talk to Andy again to get more advice from him.
