ALUW Spring Quarter Meeting, May 31, 2001

The meeting was called to order by President, Chris Byrne at 3:30, Thursday, May 31, 2001.  A business meeting preceded the program.

Spring Quarter Business Meeting

Chris summarized the past two quarterly meetings, and some of the issues dealt with by the board over the past year, including the current issue of librarians gaining voting rights as representatives on Senate Faculty Committees.  Chris also thanked Kathryn Womble (in absentia) for her work as ALUW   Vice-President/President-Elect over the past year and lamented her departure from the Libraries.

Treasurer's report

ALUW accounts total $3908.26.   $2264.10 is in the operating fund, with the remainder of the total earmarked for lobbying work.  Our lobbyist has been paid $3,375 to date, with expected costs through June to be approximately $1500.

Venta thanked everyone for the contributions and announced she would be sending out another solicitation mailing.

New Officers and Run-off Election

Chris thanked the current Board for their work over the past year and welcomed the new officers.  She also explained that due to a tie vote for the position of Vice President/President Elect, (candidates John Holmes and Louise Richards), a runoff election would be held at this meeting.  Ballots were distributed to meeting attendees and John Holmes became Vice President/President-Elect as a result of the runoff vote.
