ALUW Fall Quarter Meeting: Thursday, November 30th, 2006

1. Program: Presentation from Ana Mari Cauce, Executive Vice Provost

Dr. Ana Mari Cauce, Executive Vice Provost of UW and member of the National Academy of Sciences Committee on Maximizing the Potential of Women in Academic Science and Engineering, talked about her work on the committee and the reported its findings. 2. Introductions: ALUW Board

  • Angela Weaver, Junior Trustee, Drama Library

2. Old Business

  • Approval of the Minutes: Minutes from previous meeeting were approved without changes.
  • Treasurer's report: ALUW is doing well. Over $2,000 in operating fund. ALUW makes contributions to LSA Holiday Party. Legislative fund looking good. Recently sent out form for making contribution and dues.

3. New Business

  • New ALUW Website and Logo: Lisa provided links to the prototype of new website and the logo developed by Angela.
  • Faculty council reports: All appointees are required to prepare a quarterly status report for the ALUW home page. This has fallen away from this tradition for about 5 years, we would like to have people who are on these faculty councils to provide a report for Fall.
  • Lobbyist: Looking to have a report from the lobbyist. ALUW Board will meet with him in the near future.
  • Salary Compression Committee Update: The committee is working to create a report that will present at Winter or Spring meeting. Many of the members of the committee were present. (Committee members: Maryanne Blake; Patty Carey, Monographs; Thom Deardorff, Access Services; Joe Kiegel, Monographs; Louise Richards, Fish-Ocean, Chair; Angela Weaver, Drama.)
