ALUW Spring Quarter Meeting: Tuesday, May 27, 2008
John Bolcer handed out proposed current dues appeal. We discussed whether we should send as attachment or put up on website. Also should we include note on not having a lobbyist on the dues notice. We decided that the dues are not too high. There is no deadline for dues.
Race and Gender Salary Group: Angela Weaver reported that they are looking at the literature and will meet again at the end of the month to talk about the methodology. Some things they will think about: measures for productivity. They can’t use rank since there is a built in bias. Will use same 2006 data for comparison as last time and it can be adjusted later. The proposed deadline will be at the end of august.
Finances: $1609.62 checking, $2996.97 Savings
Bylaws revision status: Have been revised. Need to get approval via email. They will be sent out before the next meeting with the meeting announcement. Election for new board members: Discussed possible candidates for vice-president, secretary and junior trustee. The board members will be announced at the meeting. The deadline for nominations should be in by May 14th. The results will be in by the morning of the meeting.

Lisa Oberg talked about the legislative committee page and suggested websites to add. She suggested that we discuss ideas of more formal role. There should be a charge for what the group should do and is responsible for. Someone on the committee should be on the WLA legislative committee. We need to be in the loop on WLA level and need to find some issues to rally around on capital projects. Legislative priorities – lobbying on behalf of librarians. Someone should attend the WLA public meetings. Annual continuing education opportunities. Rotating members of legislative committee?
Agenda for ALUW meeting: Book review. 1-2 suggestions per person sent to Louise. Betsey will give a presentation on the data grant for the Fall program.
