Arrival Information & Local Transportation
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) is located approximately 20 miles south of the University of Washington and 15 miles south of Downtown Seattle. Below are some of the options that will easily get you to the University District and campus. See campus map here.
The address for Paccar Hall is: 4300 Memorial Way NE, Seattle, WA 98195-3200. It is on the north side of campus, close to NE 45th Street.
This building is where the initial Welcome Reception will be held and where you will check in to pick up materials from Consortium Registration. On Wednesday, June 13, the registration table will be located on the third floor of Paccar Hall. This is the level on which you will enter if you use doors that face the corner of Stevens Way and Memorial Way NE.
Shuttle Express offers frequent operation between the airport and any Seattle destination you request. It is suggested for easy and direct transportation from the airport to the campus or hotels in the University District. You can reserve trips by calling (425) 981-7000 or you may also make your reservations online at http://www.shuttleexpress.com/webpages/reservations.html
Advance reservations are required for a return trip to the airport 24 hours ahead of your desired pick up time. It is possible to book a round trip when you call for your first ride. The cost for the shuttle will be the responsibility of individuals attending the consortium.
To find Shuttle Express at the airport: After you have collected your luggage, follow signs directing you to Ground Transportation which is located on the third floor of the parking garage. The 3rd floor is the same level as the baggage claim. To get to the garage, you must proceed up one floor via escalator or elevator and walk across the sky bridge. Once in the airport garage, take an escalator or elevator back down to 3rd floor. You will find the booth alongside the Sea-Tac Ground Transportation Information Center.
All Seattle taxi cabs operate at the same rate, set by King County. The meter drop is $2.50 plus $2.00 per mile. Extra person charges may apply. A ride from the airport to the University District will be $40-$50.
From I-5, take the NE 45th Street exit (#169). To get to parking lots closest to Paccar Hall, stay on NE 45th Street for about 1/4 mile. Enter campus from 45th Street by turning right onto Memorial Way, which is two blocks past 15th Avenue NE. See UW Parking Services for more information. There is limited visitor parking on campus. Daily parking permits are your responsibility, and are payable at the entrance gates. You cannot purchase 24 hour parking permits.
A car is not necessary for conference participants. The recommended hotels are walking distance from the campus.
