Short-Term Training Opportunities in Peru

Introduction

The University of Washington has developed extensive research and training collaborations with two universities in Peru, the Universidad Peruana Cayetano de Heredia and the Universidad Nacional Major de San Marcos. The collaborating universities have twice offered a two-week intensive short course in Lima, Peru. The first course (June 19-June 30, 2000) was hosted by the Universidad Nacional Major de San Marcos. The second course (May 21-June 2, 2001) was hosted by the Universidad Peruana Cayetano de Heredia.

Objectives:

  • To improve the informatics capacities of developing country institutions, to advance research and health surveillance activities by training key researchers and institutional support staff in those institutions in the use and development of modern informatics technologies in the health sciences;
