| Description: | Advanced composite materials such as carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) are being applied to many aircraft structures including the Boeing 787 to improve performance and save weight. Continual advances in structural analysis and design, computational methods, and fatigue and fracture analysis require that engineers refresh their knowledge of the fundamentals and be informed about new developments.
Taught by leading experts from academia, industry and government, this intermediate-level course covers fundamental and state-of-the-art technologies in ten major areas of composites. |

The curriculum currently being developed will provide an introduction to the maintenance and repair of composite materials used in aircraft products. Agenda Items: The topics currently scheduled for review at the workshop are listed below. Each session will consist of review of four focal areas: Base Knowledge, Teamwork & Disposition, Damage Detection & Characterization, and Repair Process. Many of these relate to Edmonds Community College’s development of an introductory short course on composite maintenance.
