RESEARCH

In May, AMTAS project PIs participated in the 2005 technical review of all the ongoing FAA Joint Advanced Materials & Structures (JAMS) research projects. This review took place at Wichita State University and was hosted by CECAM, the other member of JAMS. The AMTAS projects were well received. Next year the JAMS technical review will take place at the UW, tentatively in mid-June 2006.

We have received FAA funding for the second year of operations, and all current AMTAS projects will continue for another year. (See http://depts.washington.edu/amtas/research/index.html for project abstracts and http://depts.washington.edu/amtas/events/jams_may05/index.html for results from the 2005 JAMS meeting.)

MEETINGS

The 2005 FAA Composite Maintenance Training Workshop is being held September 13-15, 2005 in Chicago. The workshop goal is to establish standard course content for organizations and educators introducing students to this topic. The curriculum currently being developed will provide an introduction to the maintenance and repair of composite materials used in aircraft products. This workshop is the result of one of AMTAS' FAA-funded research projects.
(Visit http://depts.washington.edu/amtas/research/index.html). Details will be published on the AMTAS Web site after the workshop.
