| Byers Lab | |
 |
We are investigating peripheral neuro-inflammatory
interactions, using trigeminal and dental injury models. Altered
neuronal shape, cytochemistry and function occur for all parts of
the sensory fibers. Central neuronal plasticity is also being recorded,
especially related to opioid or neurotrophin mechanisms. |

The Deem lab is focused on the mechanisms of
control of pulmonary blood flow and hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction,
with an emphasis on red blood cell-circulatory interactions. |

The Division of Neuroanesthesia at Harborview Medical Center has an active clinical research program, including study of cerebral autoregulation and CO2 reactivity, applications of transcranial Doppler ultrasonography, intraocular pressure in the prone position, and cerebral hemodynamics and outcome in pediatric brain injury. |

to anesthetic-induced contraction or relaxation of vascular smooth
muscle from different vascular beds. |
