The sciatic nerve exits the pelvis posteriorly through the greater sciatic foramen. Landmarks for the posterior (Labat) approach for sciatic block include the greater trochanter, posterior superior iliac spine (PSIS), and sacral hiatus. The nerve can also be located at the midpoint between the greater trochater and the ischial tuberosity.
