The research mission of the Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine of the University of Washington is to advance medical science and improve clinical care by conducting state-of-the art pre-clinical, clinical, translational, and outcomes research.

The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine recognizes research as the cornerstone of our academic program. The goals of departmental research programs include advancing knowledge in health and disease, and improving the quality of patient care in perioperative and pain medicine. Such goals will be achieved by successful competition for research funding and by cross-disciplinary research programs including faculty, fellows, residents, and students.
