UW Anesthesiology provides access to a variety of simulation technologies to improve the quality of health care education and improve patient safety and outcomes.

All the following software is available for free to any student, resident, nurse, physician or other person with a University of Washington UW NetID. You can install and use the software on any Windows computer. Requires Microsoft .Net 2.0 and Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher.

ACLS Simulator

ACLS Simulator 7 allows you to rehearse the latest AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support guidelines for 16 different megacode scenarios. You interpret the ECG, assess the patient, control the airway, breathing and circulation, defibrillate and administer cardiac medications. You must act quickly in this real-time simulation or the patient's condition will deteriorate!

Rhythm Simulator

Rhythm Simulator 7 provides practice identifying ECG rhythms as they sweep across the screen. This program covers all the rhythms necessary for ACLS training.

Anesthesia Simulator

The Anesthesia Simulator is a real-time graphical simulator that reproduces the anesthesia environment on a computer screen. The Anesthesia Simulator includes has 34 cases with general anesthetic problems, and cardiac, neuro, trauma, obstetric and pediatric scenarios with dozens of emergencies such as myocardial ischemia, anaphylaxis and malignant hyperthermia. The simulated patient responds to your management while an automated record-keeping system summarizes the case and an on-line consultant provides immediate management suggestions.

PALS Simulator

PALS Simulator 7 is similar to the ACLS Simulator, but covers 12 scenarios specific to Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
