"I am currently engaged in a multi-site comparative ethnographic research project funded by NIH. The project, 'Love, Marriage and HIV: A Multi-site study of Gender and HIV Risk' seeks to examine the intersection between notions of love, changing marital patterns and extra-marital sexual opportunity structures, and related configurations of gender as a means to explore how social, political, and cultural factors shape men and women's risk of marital HIV infection. The research will be conducted during a six month period in five different countries; each site represents different stages of the HIV epidemic (Uganda, Nigeria, Mexico, Viet Nam and Papua New Guinea). I am responsible for the Vietnamese portion of the research project."
