Dream Safe Zone Training: Advising Undocumented Students
Tuesday, November 3, 2009 In 2003, Washington State's Legislature passed HB-1079, which allows undocumented students, who meet certain criteria, to pay in-state tuition at all the public higher education institutions in the state. This bill has made higher education more accessible to undocumented students; however, these students still face many challenges. This training, through a panel of UW fculty, staff and students will share experiences of undocumented students; some of the challenges these students face in achieving their academic, professional and personal goals; and how you can support these students on our campus. CASTLE Workshop
Wednesday, October 28, 2009 Come learn more about the College of Arts & Sciences Teaching and Learning Engagement (CASTLE) project with Jenee Myers Twitchell. The CASTLE website acts as a space for advisers, faculty, staff, and students to publicize their work related to educational outreach, K-12 programming, community and school engagement, K-12 teacher preparation and support, education-related research, and all other projects and programs related to education and our community. Also, this project creates a space for the sharing of ideas, research and programming tools between departments and individuals. This project is part of the Teachers for a New Era initiative, through a grant from the Carnegie Foundation. Come see how you can contribute!
