I'm getting warnings that ArcGIS will stop working in a few days! HEEEEEEELLLLPPPPP MEEEEE!

If you are seeing messages about ArcGIS timing out on a computer on which you are running your own license server, please do me a favor and read this entire script. PLEASE SIGN UP FOR MESSAGES ON UW-GIS-L. The names have been changed to protect the innocent.

Hi Clueless Technical Support Guy, actually I'm a very nice guy but when I have to do extra *volunteer*
work on behalf of people who don't read or follow instructions, I start to turn
into a not so nice guy.

If you would please just follow the instructions that have been written and referenced,
I'm confident this will solve your problems.

If you follow the instructions but run into difficulties, I will bend over backwards to
help--as I've done for 10+ years supporting the UW ESRI site license.

Howdy Phil!

Sorry about that, I was filling out her form for her since she doesn't
know anything about it other than how to use ArcGIS to do her job.

(Vs me, who doesn't know anything about ArcGIS other than installing it
for people)

Her license for 9.3 says it's expiring in 8 days, so she'll ned a
renewal, it wasn't clear from the instructions where that fit in. She
hasn't misplaced hers, it's expiring. She takes this laptop all over the
west coast and needs ArcGIS to run off-campus.

Dear Lost, I'm not singling you out in particular, but I am on the
verge of not supporting Arc licenses for people who:

(A) fill in forms but do not follow written instructions for those
forms, to wit:

https://depts.washington.edu/arcgis/pages/2011/01/06/installing-arcgis-93-on-computer-will-be-remote-campus

"3. If you have already received a copy of your license file, but then
misplaced the file, please do not use this form to request a new license
file, instead, find your file at
http://depts.washington.edu/arcgis/keycodes/."

Or (B) are either not subscribed to uw-gis-l or who do not read the
important messages we send out on uw-gis-l, to wit:

http://mailman2.u.washington.edu/pipermail/uw-gis-l/2011-September/004456.html
