DESIGN BUILD STUDIOS

Each spring, Professor Steve Badanes and students in the the Howard S. Wright Design/Build Studio design and build small community projects for Seattle-area nonprofit groups. Students in the studio gain experience with clients, public agencies, and hands-on construction while working to benifit people in the greater Seattle community. The studio receives funding from the Dept. of Neighborhoods and the local business community. Click here for the Howard S. Wright d/b website.

For the past two years the students in the Department of Architecture, with a grant from HUD, have worked in partnership with CAUP, the UW Community Outreach Partnership Center, and the Yakima Nation in central Washington to develop and build low cost, energy efficient housing for farmworker communities of the Yakima Valley.
