Welcome to the Anesthesia Closed Claims Project and its Registries
The Anesthesia Closed Claims Project and its Registries are scientific studies of adverse anesthetic outcomes. The Anesthesia Closed Claims Project and its Registries are collaborative, multidisciplinary projects that work to identify safety concerns in anesthesia, patterns of injury, and develop strategies for prevention in order to improve patient safety. The initiative consists of the Anesthesia Closed Claims Project, the Postoperative Visual Loss Registry, the Anesthesia Awareness Registry, and the Neurologic Injury after Non-Supine Shoulder Surgery (NINS) Registry. The goals of these initiatives are to increase patient safety.
Each Registry carries on its own investigations and maintains its own databases relevant to its specific area of interest and study. Cases for the Anesthesia Closed Claims Project and its Registries are collected on a continuous basis.
The Anesthesia Closed Claims Project and its registries are making valuable contributions to the theory and practice of Anesthesia. Since their inception the projects have generated:
- 50 peer-reviewed journal articles.
- Approximately 70 ASA Newsletter Articles.
- Numerous presentations and specialized trainings.
