Professor Yu, formerly Professor of East Asian Languages and Cultures and Dean of Humanities in the College of Letters and Science at UCLA, is a renowned expert on classical Chinese poetry.

Special Kabuki Event at the Seattle Asian Art Museum

Participants: Professor Laurence Kominz (Portland State University), Professor Paul Atkins (University of Washington), and members of the Chikamatsu-za Kabuki Troupe.
This educational event at the Seattle Asian Art Museum will provide background and perspective on understanding Kabuki theater. The event will include a discussion of the Kabuki play The Love Suicides at Sonezaki and a demonstration of make-up, costumes, and performance techniques. The event is being held in conjunction with the performances of Nakamura Ganjiro's world-famous Grand Kabuki Troupe on June 11 and 12 at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle.
