Departmental Degree Requirements

Guidelines for Admission


The applicant for Graduate Studies at the Department of Asian Languages and Literature must meet the requirements of the Graduate School as outlined in the University Catalog. Basically, each candidate needs to submit by the deadline an application form, a statement of purpose, and three letters of recommendation. In addition, an academic writing sample (in English) is recommended. Students are expected to have strong language skills in their language of specialization and sound background in linguistics or literature.
