Assistant Professor of Korean
Asian Languages and Literature
The Department of Asian Languages and Literature, University of Washington, invites
applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Korean beginning in September
2008. The area of specialization is Korean literature. Special consideration will be given to
candidates whose research interests relate to those of the Chinese and Japanese faculties of the
department, and who have knowledge of a second relevant Asian language.
Duties will involve the teaching and supervision of Modern Korean language courses at various
levels as well as undergraduate and graduate courses in Korean literature. The PhD degree is
required by the date of appointment. In addition to pursuing a high level of research, faculty
members in the Department of Asian Languages and Literature are expected to teach at both the
undergraduate and graduate levels, to supervise graduate and, where appropriate, undergraduate
research, and to serve in administrative capacities in the Department and the University.
