Jim D. joined us. We discussed a few concerns about depending on a machine and product we don't manage (Vitcos, Informix). Sid's group has extensive expertise in this arena and for this portion of the project we will be the customer - a role we are not used to but are expected to cultivate.
Jim will verify our support understandings and concerns with Sid.
Jim also reminded us an LDAP interface to Informix should be developed as we proceed, as this can/will be used by other groups in C&lddiC who need access to our database. There are commercial LDAP-to-just-about- every-DB interfaces we can buy.
We are waiting on the databridge for Student, Fac/Staff data additions; this should proceed when Liz is back from vacation.
Tom has loaded clinicians, AVF, SAF folks into the DB. We discussed using a client to add/remove these records in place of handling the traditional files once the "base" records have been added.
Tom mentioned he has observed conflicting birthdates in Student data and Fac/Staff data where these records intersect. This should be discussed with Bill Shirey and Martha Smith, as obviously we will record only one birthdate per person and which do we take?
An extended discussion took place on the value of holding our historic account category in the DB to no current resolution. The Fac/Staff data has a fine granularity, but no one was clear on how to decode the codes in the data (for example Faculty have a lot of possible sub-categories). Yonah will pursue this with Martha Smith.
Tracy will use LDAP for his "validate" client. He will talk to Donn who may be already investigating LDAP. Tracy will also work on a client to replace the AVF.DAT file. A client to replace the clinicians file should be similar. We are looking at a prototype for Fall Quarter for these clients.
Pete will give a demo of the web-based new interface next Thursday.
We briefly discussed expiration, which will be the next phase of concentration in this project. Since the clinicians are not in our historic expiration process, they are an ideal category to develop the process for first. As we noted already, they will expire on much faster cycles than other customer categories. Tom will start thinking about the expiration process.
Task review: ------------ Tom: Lots; database development, loading, processing, MS Access clients. Start thinking about clinicians expiration process.
Pete: Web-based new, renew. Target completion Aug 31, 1997.
Tracy: Query clients, first a "validate" replacement. Manipulation clients, first an AVF add/modify client.
Yonah: Writing a requirements document. Get Fac/Staff data code definitions
