Mike's AVF client is in production (http://daffy2.cac.washington.edu/). He has added expiration processing, so the AVF accounts automatically expire on their expiration date, but the back-end actual expiration is not yet functional.

Tom reported a few problems with the Informix upgrade on vitcos, but Ping is working on them with Tom.

Tracy's access lists for web who have been in production. He has three lists, one for students, one for staff, and one for AVF. C&CI maintain the lists on Austen (uw$cea:mda.dat, mdf.dat, and mds.dat).

Tom set up a test LDAP server (see the Accounting project page link).

Tom and Hugh reported on a meeting they had with Ellen Jensen and her staff about their LDAP intentions. They are especially interested in student information and want to validate their application with student number/PAC. If our LDAP server would return a yes/no match on the student number/PAC they provide, this is mostly what they want. They are also at the very start of their development work.

We should also talk to Sid about what his group wants to use our LDAP server for.

We are having an LDAP meeting to review Tom's definitions before we advertise the test LDAP server to a few C&C folks who want to try some queries.

Tom now has a trial copy of Netscape's Directory Services, which he wants to install on one of the Intel boxes on-order. He is thinking this will be our LDAP server, which at the moment is the older Michigan code running on cybele.

Since Mike is done with the AVF client, he is available to help Tom test Netscape Directory Services.

(post-meeting update) Pete still has a couple of bugs he is working out of web based new. This will be able to be modified for a "dawg license" which is simply a presence (id, password, email forwarding) in Kerberos without having a UA account. Note one will still have to be a UW person (in Shuksan) to get a "dawg license". More work involved before we will be able to handle affiliates.

Ken reports progress on the KDC. All passwords are in the KDC, and rlogin on homer and dante are using Kerberos. Still being worked-on are telnet, imapd, ftpd which need to be modified to use Kerberos before shadow password files are removed from the local machines. Password changes will work the same as now (customers and C&CI).

Tracy has been working on single login, using ssh and ticket-forwarding.

Since the namespace pieces are coming along, this is a good time to pick up some of the more traditional "accounting" tasks. Tracy and Tom will look at getting CUF information into Shuksan and the expiration process. One important function would be a 30 day email warning of impeding expiration. Getting off Austen is a high priority.

Task review: ------------ Tom: Database development, loading, processing. Faculty/Staff data loading, processing. LDAP server - update schema. Explore Netscape's Directory Services. DB2 for a test Informix replacement.

Pete: Web-based new.

Tracy: Work on entire suite of clients. Look at expiration process. Look at getting CUF information into Shuksan.

Hugh: Work on backup/restore policies. Arrange the removal of SVF.INFO on Austen. Arrange an LDAP meeting with Sid (and Tom).

Mike H: Review our list of known clients to be sure INFO's needs covered Work with Tom on Netscape's Directory Services.
